Legislative in Lot-et-Garonne: who are the candidates in the three constituencies?

In addition to the May 8 commemorations, the various political parties took advantage of this weekend to confirm several nominations for the next legislative elections (which will take place on June 12 for the first round and June 19 for the second).

On the three constituencies of the department, the different scenarios are taking shape. A first lesson seems to be in order. They should be much less numerous than in 2017 on the starting line where they were 38 on the three circos of Lot-et-Garonne. For the moment, they are 17 out of the three. But, we are not exempt from last minute surprises.

On the constituency of Agen-Nérac

We can see more clearly now on the first constituency of Lot-et-Garonne. This Saturday, Michael Lauzzana, the outgoing deputy, obtained the nomination of the presidential majority under the banner « Together ». The elected Renaissance (ex-Lrem) had to wait for the precious sesame in a constituency where political observers imagined a fierce battle in the ranks of the majority. Change compared to 2017 with a new substitute for the outgoing MP. The name of an assistant to the mayor of Feugarolles is mentioned with insistence to accompany him.
For the left-wing People’s Union, the constituency was reserved for ecologists. Maryse Combres will be a candidate again. Marie Boudet (invested by the PS) and Guilhem Mirande (by the CP) withdrew in favor of him. The latter would have had a good eye on the replacement. A place that was proposed and politely refused by the mayor of Lavardac, as we indicated, last week, in these same columns.

Bertrand Girardi will also be on the starting line. Under the Republicans banner. “It was a bit long but everything is settled”, explains the one who is a member of the municipal council of Agen. André Macchado, elected in Vianne, will be his deputy for next month’s election.

Sebastien Delbosq will wear the colors of the National Rally. He is only waiting for the green light from the National Investiture Commission. “There have been a lot of applications for this constituency but I have good hopes of wearing the colors of the RN”, he underlines. The Néracais Fabrice Renard, former candidate on the RN list for the last municipal elections in the city of Albret, will be his deputy. Finally, for Reconquest, it is Marie-Line Bruyeres who got the nomination for that constituency.

On the district of Villeneuve-sur-Lot

Olivier Damaisin, elected five years ago, will be the representative of the presidential majority. As in 2017, he will form a duo with Farah Hamidani as a substitute. « We do not change the team including those of our assistants », slips the outgoing deputy.

The colors of Nupes will be defended by LFI, according to the national agreement. Thereby, Xavier Czapla was invested this weekend. Carole Binois-Fiegel was confirmed, for her part, as an alternate. For a time the name of Thomas Bouyssonnie had been mentioned in this constituency.

Annick Cousin will be the candidate of the RN. His investiture was validated by the national authorities, as was that of Geoffrey Gary for reconquest.
For the right, this is the big question. The mayor of Fumel, Jean Louis Costes, will he again go into battle on this territory where he has already won but where he lost five years ago? Let’s say that the analysis of the last presidential election would have cooled his desire. He would also be keen to engage with the same deputy as in 2017, namely Guillaume Lepers (who has meanwhile become mayor of Villeneuve-sur-Lot). But the latter would have politely declined. The mayor of Fumel will hold a press conference this Tuesday at 5 p.m. A time tipped to go there in the event of the defection of Jean-Louis Costes, Jacques Borderie « finds it impossible in fact to set up a campaign worthy of the name, and above all worthy of what the voters are entitled to to expect and demand from their elected representatives and candidates ». A report established, this Monday, this Monday, May 9, “within 5 weeks of the first round”. In the event of Jean-Louis Costes renouncing, Les Républicains may not have a candidate on the starting line.
The animalist party will also be represented in this constituency with Mathias Bouffies who made his candidacy official over the weekend.

On the constituency of Marmande

The nomination finally confirmed by Renaissance to the outgoing deputy, Alexandre Freschi, sounded like a little surprise. He will be a candidate with the opposition departmental councilor Laurence Ducos as a substitute.

Indeed, at the end of last week, another scenario was looming with an investiture which could have fallen on this constituency to Charlotte Pautet, departmental reference of the ex-Lrem (and former parliamentary attaché of the outgoing deputy). In a way, a post-municipal settling of scores in Marmande where she appeared on Daniel Benquet’s list while Alexandre Freschi had supported another list (by appearing in last position). Moreover, for Horizon (the allied party), Patrick Maurin also stood in ambush. He was quick to react on social networks after the decision of the national authorities: « Very disappointed not to have had the nomination to defend the rural world, I ask my friends to go and vote according to their consciences ».

For the left, this territory has been reserved for the socialists. Thus, the mayor of Virazeil, Christophe Couregelongues will be on the starting line accompanied by the municipal councilor of Tonneins, Valérie Bottechia. A candidacy supported by Sophie Borderie, the president of the departmental council, and Jacques Bilirit, president of Val de Garonne.

Franck Quenelle should wear the colors of the RN. The investiture should be formalized in the coming hours. Isabelle Henaff will defend the colors of Eric Zemmour’s party.

For Republicans, Martine Calzavara will be at the starting line. Five years ago, she was already present as a substitute for Emilien Roso. “I have had the nomination since the end of last year. We have started our campaign. We know, at the end of the presidential election, that it will not be easy for us from the territory, ”insists the former deputy mayor of Marmande. Jean-Pierre Landat, deputy mayor of Tonneins, will be his deputy. The animalist party will be represented, also on this territory, with the candidacy of Patrick Vendege.

From next Monday – May 16 – candidates will be able to submit their application to the prefecture. They will have until Friday, May 20, at 6 p.m. to complete this formality.
