A ceremony honoring the Departmental Delegates of National Education departing was organized this Wednesday, May 18 at the academic inspection in Agen, in the presence of the academic director of Lot-et-Garonne Patrice Lemoine and inspectors.

These delegates are appointed for four years by the DAcademic Director of the National Education Services. For more than a century, they have served public schools on a voluntary basis, ensuring good school conditions. They can be consulted on the suitability of construction projects, fitting out and equipping the premises and any question relating to the general conditions of operation, to the school environment.

During their school visits, they take an interest in student attendance, the school structure, the state of the premises, their comfort, school furniture, computer and audiovisual equipment, sports facilities, catering, medical examinations, provision of class and library books, security inside buildings, security outside, transport, extracurricular services and the use of premises resulting. They are required to follow one or more schools, in the areas within their competence. They take care to facilitate relations between the various partners (teachers, parents, communities) and to protect the interests of the schools where they intervene for the well-being of the children.

Defenders of the main founding principles of public schools, more particularly those of secularism and equality, they play a completely independent role of listening and proposing during the three school councils of which they are ex officio members.

An exemplary mission that is sometimes long-term

At the start of the 2021 academic year, a four-year renewal stage, after many years of investment, several delegates decided not to ask to be reappointed. Among them, some have fulfilled a long-term mission in an exemplary manner, never losing sight of the fact that they had no other interest to defend than that of the children.

To thank them and in recognition of the services rendered, they were named honorary departmental delegates by Patrice Lemoine, academic director, during this reception in their honor. « You have all served this happy institution that is the school by involving yourselves, by showing adaptation, arbitration and by playing a role of intercessor between the teachers, but also the teachers and the parents to bring more of harmony by being attentive and by being the defenders of the students as well » underlined Patrice Lemoine. A diploma of honor was given to the 19 people who leave this function.

Kindness, efficiency, discretion, solidarity, benevolence and sense of investment were the qualities praised during the speeches for these regretful departures.
