Semi-final return from play-off
Racing defeats its old demons and Brax to go to the final
Racing – Braxgata 3-1
Racing was still deprived of the services of Lambeau (concussion Thursday in training) and Weyers (knee). The two coaches lined up the same teams as those who played on Saturday (2-1 for Brax).
From the 27th second, the Braxgata already caused a first pc. Luypaert’s sleep was countered by Gucassoff. Gaspard Xavier touched a stick in the circle. Mr. Dutrieux did not hesitate in showing the point of stroke. Luypaert took Gucassoff on the wrong foot. The shipment also sped through the skylight. Charlier responded with a first PC for Racing. We had only been playing for 3 minutes! Cosyns transformed his pc in the center (1-1). The second pc of Racing was whistled when the ball was already in the 25 of Racing. Walter went out the sleep in full skylight of Cosyns. Charlier gave the ball back to Cosyns who was again blocked by Walter. The two teams neutralized each other fairly well during a fairly balanced first quarter. On a flick of Truyens, Walter controlled her chest before releasing her from the stick. A few seconds from the end of the first quarter, Charlier went in force to enter the circle and shoot Walter (2-1).
In the second quarter, Charlier erased two defenders to afford a shot on target in the circle. Walter was perfect. The Braxgata suffered a bit. Mazzilli punctuated a collective effort with a back-to-goal shot. Gucassoff was watching. Opportunities were rare. Both cores were looking to build. In the 28th minute, Racing felt robbed of a pc. Braxgata inherited their second pc in the 30th minute. The first gave nothing except a second.
In the second half, de Chaffoy was on target. Racing snatched a 3rd pc. The Cosyns-Truyens phase was unsuccessful. On an interception from Charlier, Truyens left at the entrance of the circle. He was jostled. He almost fell. Mr. Dutrieux left the advantage which allowed Truyens to score the 3rd goal for Ucclois. Racing conceded its 4th pc in the 42nd minute. Gucassoff diverted. Racing was in control. On an effort from Truyens-de Chaffoy-Lucaccioni, Charlier fired into the circle. Charlier went solo and framed another shot. On the rebound, Cosyns recovered for Charlier who was still on target. Walter deflected it onto de Chaffoy. Cosyns did not fit the pc.
In the last quarter, Racing remained offensive. Charlier, embarrassed by Mr. Dutrieux, shouted to him « Move, damn it » He took a yellow.
Without Charlier, Racing fell back sharply. In the 61st minute, the Brax provoked his 5th pc on an effort from Onana. The combination brought the green of… Loots. In the 65th minute, Gucassoff released a shot from Rossi. In the 67th minute, Walter was out. Brax threw its last strength into the battle, but Racing held on without forcing. Onana was shooting wide of the ball as the goal was open.
Racing finally finds its place in the final after a rather brilliant although irregular season.

Watducks deprived of final and EHL
Watducks – Ghent 4-3 (shoot-out 4-5)
Hostilities begin immediately with from the 89th second a pc from Ghent but Scheen’s shot is deflected. La Gantoise controls the game well and opens the scoring after 13 minutes, cross from Ferreiro, Tynevez receives and isolates de Paeuw (0-1). At this stage, the Gantoise, victorious 2-1 the day before, has two goals in advance. But the show has only just begun.
In the 20th the Watducks get their first pc and it’s directly good: 1-1 by Charlet in the ceiling of the goal. The two teams still get a pc before half-time, that of the Gantoise gives nothing but on the other hand Charlet manages a double, via Santiago (2-1).
On the restart, the Gantoise returned to equality after seven minutes: cross from Masson and Rogeau scored at close range (2-2). The next minute it’s almost 2-3 but de Borrekens is a little too short on a cross from Tynevez. Two minutes later the Watducks equalized the total of the two sets, Wilbers taking advantage of the rebound of a shot returned by Scheen (3-2). In the aftermath, Esquelin forces Santiago to save, then Willems alone in front of the Argentinian goalkeeper tries a lob, not high enough. There are only for the Watducks at the end of the 3rd quarter, the Ducks get a triplet of pc, Bugallo saving the last on the line. Then just before the buzz, Wilbers in turn scores a double on a cross from Willems (4-2). For the first time since the start of the double confrontation, the Watducks have a stick in the final.
Not for a long time ! Barely the last quarter started, the Gantoise obtains its 3rd pc and Scheen hits the mark (4-3). Ferreiro called on Vandenbroucke again before Watducks missed the boat twice at the end of the match, on a center from Willems cleared on the sly by Santiago then on a final shot from Boccard, just next door.
Shoot-out therefore, after five tries the two teams are still tied but Vandenbroucke has already conceded two rebound goals. It’s even worse in sudden death, when the local goalkeeper thinks he has countered Ferreiro but the latter still finds an incredible reflex and scores in the top corner! This is probably too much for Boccard who comes up against Santiago. The Watducks may have dominated the second half of the championship, and having finished at the top of the round robin, they remain at the dock empty-handed. The Gantoise on the other hand will play in EHL next season.
